Default Help - Re-running an old RC

Hello, I'm new to this forum, so this is my first post. I'm sure you guys will help me out quite a lot here !

I'm 23 years old, but I've not ran my RC cars since I was around 8. I own a Blackfoot Tamiya 2WD electric moster truck and a BMT 933 Austin Light 1/8th with a Picco engine (not sure which model), fitted with a 2 speed box, both complete.

I need help re-running the BMT. I have all the parts, nothing is missing.

My dad used to start it up and make it running so I could play with it, but I want to do it myself with a friend now that I can.

I just don't know where to start, and what to do, to prepare it and start it up (which I don't even remember how to do it...).

Thanks a lot !

Yeah, but it's not run at all for more than 10 years. What to do to re-run it again?

Surely there must be a careful procedure to follow when an engine's been resting for such a long time...

I would get a new plug, filter, and some fresh fuel to make sure anything you might have around still hasn't gotten contaminated but after that, it'll either run or it won't. If the engine's innards have gotten corroded in any way, you'll have to re-evaluate it at that point.

New fuel line is a must. Take the engine out and rinse it with new nitro fuel. If its badly varnished inside, soak it overnight in new fuel.

If you have zero experience with a nitro car, I suggest you go to your local racetrack and seek advice from one of the 70-90yr old racers that use to run that car. You get to relieve their pre geritol days of 5sec servo speeds, wooden spoked foam tires and 100% nitro highs..................

I have some experience. My dad ran it back then, so I can ask him... I have the manual too.

All I wanted to know is what to do with a car that's been sitting at home for more than 10 years.
