Questions?? Capacitor install question SCTE

I have been searching for hours without a clear answer, so i figured i would pop it on here. 2 part question. I am installing a capacitor on to my SCTE. now here's the question. Is there a difference whether i install it onto my RX via a plug or solder directly to my deans connector on the ESC side? and is it safe to solder it direct to my deans plug??

Is this a glitch buster capacitor or the ESC cap? If it's a glitch buster, it needs to go directly into the receiver.

I have 5600uf 10v capacitors. I know it will work as a glitch buster. Can I use the same capacitor for the ESC? Also can I put a glitch buster on with a Y harness, shared with a fan?

I'd run the glitch buster by itself so the fan doesn't prematurely drain it or so that it doesn't keep the fan powered when it should be doing that for the receiver.

The specifications of the ESC cap vary from ESC to ESC so while you could use a generic capacitor, you should find out what the OEM spec is on that first.

That's part of the issue, I only have a 3 channel RX and all 3 channels are in use. Servo, esc, fan. Let me give some info on why I'm asking, I do apologize about the bits and pieces. I am having an issue with the truck just stopping Every couple of minutes. No forward or reverse, but full steering. At first i thought it was the low voltage cutoff. but the battery still has near full charge, even accounting for the extra drain while running. The battery is good, I removed and soldered the ESC power switch, if I turn the ESC off and back on it runs for a little bit then Does it again. Temps are fine, under 130. It's a castle sidewinder sct with a castle 1410 motor. Spectrum s6040 servo.

I don't think that is a capacitor thing. Check drive train to make sure it spins freely. Also check settings on ESC to make sure temp control/cutoff on ESC is not enabled.

Spektum servo + Castle + SCTE sometimes equals issues all day long.

With the full picture in hand, I would skip a cap and go straight for a bec. You should be able to run your fan off that as well.

However, I would first try the sugggestion above - make sure your motor/esc wont overheat and disable any temp shutoffs you may have. Same for the battery. Put in a fresh one and kill the lvc. I wouldn't run like that long term but its worth a diagnostic shot.

Great info, thank you all. I checked the castle link and there are no settings for temp. shutdown, so I'm good there. Drivetrain does spin freely. I am going to forget the cap and go straight to the bec as most of you have advised. Thanks again everyone......

Try turning the Lipo low voltage cutoff off, just for a diagnostic run. Sct's are heafty and pull a pretty good load from the batt and without caps on the esc you may be temporarily dropping voltage below the cutoff point.

I might be off base here, but make sure you still run an ESC power capacitor. Attached as directly to the ESC as practical, not to the Deans battery plugs.
