New to Drift
Whats up guys, Names Ivan. Completely new to real RC and have been looking into getting into drifting for some time now. Thru my local craigslist I found the chassis I wanted as well as some accesories at a good price. I grabbed a HPI Sprint 2 Drift chassis with a locked rear dif already, TF-40 Controller, Stock battery and 2 upgraded batteries, 2 sets of wheels and tires (used), a qwik charger (MRC 959) and 2 bodies (stock camaro as well as Lexus GS 400. Has lights and turn signals etc.) Paid $200 for everything. Thought it was a pretty good deal so I jumped on it. Merry Xmas to me lol. Been practicing as much as I can. The parking lot where I live works but the chassis drags on the ground so I have been going to a local mall with very low foot traffic lol. Much better place to run it haha. Ill prolly start to modify it after xmas. Going to upgrade suspension and stuff. Can anyone shed some light on brushed vs brushless? Guy I bought it off said he wouldnt recommend a brushless setup bc its too "snappy" in a drift machine. Motor in it now is a Firebolt brushed 15T. Everything is stock far as I can tell. Also can u guys recommend how to clean the car? Its kinda dusty/dirty and I wanna make sure its clean. I cant post pix yet. How many posts til I can post pix?

Welcome to drifting Ivan that was defiantly a awesome deal good find. As for the brushed and brushless. If you plan on doing alot of drifting I would upgrade to brushless the motors have more power and a better feel for drifting. Also the motors last alot longer with no maintance brushed motors wear out and you'll have to replace them more often. There cheap but getting harder to find. I went through three brushed motors in one year. On the other hand it's a little costly to upgrade to brushless just depends on how much your gonna be drifting. But for now I would just have fun and then run that motor till it dies. With cleaning just blow it out with an air compressor or keep a paint brush on hand and dust to off after each session it should be good but at least blow the motor out with air that will help prolong its life

You need 10 posts to post pics..As for brushed motor make sure you clean it out with motor spray and re-lube the bearings after 7-10 runs..As for brushless it is going to be cheaper in the long run but, you can only realize a big difference in speed if you run Lipo..I recommend Hobby Wing for your first brushless after your brushed system goes out..

Question. Where are the bearing in a brushed motor

In the front where the shaft extends and and in the rear..You will not need to remove the bearings just put oil on them where they are...

Bearing oil or just 3 way oil should work.

I have. That was the day I brought it home. I got a brush a canned air n cleaned it all out

If your gonNa get brushless get the Novak slydr system good price and set up for drifting. Has all kinds of awesome features for drifting. And you'll have to run lipo with brushless which requires a new charger but well worth the money. Run times are much longer and you get full power to the end of the battery with lipo instead of it getting weaker in power as it dies which is more consistent For drifting. For tires I've ran both and it doesn't really matter abs tires seem a little more slick and slide better on any surface plus you can pick lots of em up for cheap. HPI tires are a little pricey and i only use them for competitions cause that's a rule for the comps I run in. Nice pics love the body

Oh carefully oil the motor don't over do it just put a tiny drop on the shaft and let run down in the motor
