Default Tamiya Scion FR-S RC

Hey RCTech ,

Does anyone have experience with RC's or has this model?
How hard is it to paint?
Can I add LED's to the headlight's/tail light's?
Where can I buy the battery, charger, radio gear, servo, receiver at?

I've tried searching online and a little new to this. I'm gonna buy the one on eBay since it's a little cheaper there. Or is there a site that's ready to play with? But I've seen a few options where you can upgrade the suspension, is it worth it?

And any other recommendations?

Sorry for all these questions.

The Toyota 86 has been a highly anticipated sports car since the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. In 2012 the vehicle was finally released to markets around the world. In Japan it is known as the Toyota 86. In Europe it is known as the GT-86 and in the USA and North America it is known as the Scion FR-S. The new Toyota 86 R/C body is mounted on Tamiya's proven entry level assembly kit, the TT-01E.

Check out A-Main or tower hobbies for name brands. Another option is check out hobbyking.com .

Painting really isnt that hard, just make sure to clean before painting and use the correct paint. Not sure if there is a light kit available yet but where there's a will there's a way.

Unless you plan on racing it I wouldn't worry about upgrading the suspension. Just enjoy it like it is.

This car is based on the TT-01E platform. An entry level 4wd touring car. You will have a great time with it! Do you plan to race? If so, that would change the gear recommendations slightly... with the Scion body you'd run in touring car, or maybe TCS. You could easily run this car in the vintage trans am class too by swapping out the body and tires.

You can learn a lot by hanging out in the forum dedicated to that car here:

Check out amainhobbies.com or towerhobbies.com for gear. I like Tower better myself because they are so close to me, that I get the stuff the next day - even if I pick standard shipping!

For entry level gear, I'd suggest:

Thanks for all the help guys.

I just finished painting the head llight's and tail's. How do you apply the stickers? Do you cut it out? Or is it just suppose to peel off?
