My question is if I go with the car without electronics, What type of radio do I get?
I've been reading about synthesized radios versus crystals. Is it worth the money to go with the synthesized? Since I don't own a car yet I have no idea how hard it is to change the crystals and wether you would have to do it more than once at a race.

Thanks for any help you can give me.
I say go directly with the Airtronics M8 coz its easy to use and has lots of fetaures that you can use once you move on...

Well the helios is a great radio... but kind of complicated for beginners. But anyone could learn it. This radio is the best radio i have ever felt. All the features on it is really great. SO MANY FEATURES!!! I felt the m8 and thought it was a little "off centered" . I think the helios and the 3pk have the best ergonomics.

Buy an RTR and use the stock radio first before buying the high end digitals. Concentrate first on your car then radio later

I agree... One drawback of the M8 is its uneven weight distribution on one side.... to the right....
