My charger lets me choose what amperage to charge at and I don't know how to set it so I have been leaving it on what's already there. For 7.4v lipo balance it's at 4..

But it charges the batter to 8.4v and I'm worried it's harming the battery.

So how do I tell what amp to charge different batteries at??


I have a 7.4v 5000mah 40c lipo battery

Also some 7.2v 3000mah nimh batteries.

Charge a 5000 mah at 5 amps(1c), 4000 mah at 4 amps etc.
nominal charged voltage is 4.2 v per cell, so 8.4 is normal.

Is it bad that I've been charging my 5000mah under at 4? I've done it maybe 3 or 4 times I think.

Nope, not at all. I also agree with poppa_duce. That is how I have always charged and have been told to charge.

Better to charge at too low an amp rate than too high...
