SC10 RTR help

Ok I went to the track yesterday and got to run for the first time with other trucks on the track. I had a Traxxas 2wd truck at the time. After noticing my Traxxas was no match for stock SC10's I bought a SC10RTR. Now when the shop set my truck up they loaned me a Lipo battery. I do not own a lipo as of yet and was running Onyxx 8.4 3000 mah NIMH batteries in my Traxxas. Can I use this battery in my SC10? If so do I have to reprogram my Truck?

Thanks

Yes, you can use that pack just fine as your truck sits although it won't be quite as powerful as a lipo.

Probably need to reprogram the speed control to turn off the lipo Low Voltage Cutoff feature. Or it might shut down unnecessarily/prematurely. And remember to turn it back on if/when you get a lipo, to protect the lipo from damaging over discharge.

You mentioned a track, if racing the 8.4V (7 cell) nimh is technically outside the rules. But most tracks will probably let you get started with what you have (as long as you aren’t beating everyone), don’t want to turn away a possible new racer. Just running on the track on practice days shouldn’t be a problem.

Yeah, forgot about the lipo cutoff but that's all you'd need to check.

Since lipos charge to 8.4 anyway, I haven't found a track yet that won't allow a 7-cell NiMh battery as an equivalent for those still using them.
