newbe:} Motor shaft is too long for gear cover?

I have a Assosiated B4.1 that I put a Venilin Brushless in but I cant put the Gear cover on because the motor shaft is too long. can I find a deeper cover, or use a couple of washers around the shaft to pull it back? Any ideas? Will this motor work?

ive ran into that issue with the velineon a few times.... honestly ive never tried shimming it....i have always just shortened the motor shaft.... you really dont need to take much off.... I believe its around 1/16th or 1/8th in.

I would agree just cut enough off so cover will fit.

Thank you

That will work, but I took it out of my sons car cause he keeps runing into
$^^*T. He had the bandit with the 12t, and we upgraded him but it was too much power. So I swaped him my reddy 3300 so he would have more control. Eventualy it will go back in his when he can control it, so I didnt want to cut it off, but maybe just a little will work. Thanks guys:)

Some people put a hole in the gear cover... It isn't like most of them are sealed, anyhow.

you would have to check to be sure....but it should work on either after you cut it off.... because most other brand.. motor shafts are shorter than the velineon anyway..

Ya, it is quite a bit longer. I will cut it off, for now I found a couple of longer screws and little springs that hold it out enough, then i put some tape on to fill the gap to keep most of the dirt out. "Temporary fix"

Thanks everyone. i am new to forums, and rc but you guys seem to really enjoy helping out rookies to help the hobby grow.
Now I need to find a track :tire:
