When I was a kid I had this Tamiya Boomerang. One day I thought it to be a good idea to run the stock 540 Motor with two NiCd Packs in series. Well, for 5 minutes it really went off - then of course it was over.
That has been about 24 years ago...
Last year I bought myself an LRP S8 TXe 1/8 Truggy and because I am no longer a poor kid anymore I also got me a nice Sanwa MT-4.
Until recently I was simply bashing around my house togehter with my 4 year old son (he is one reason I bought the car so he might also find interest in rc cars or let's say it was also a very good excuse for myself and my wife for me getting an rc car). I even got him a very basic 1/10 rc truggy from LRP to get the feeling and he really loves it.
Couple of days ago I was a bit distracted and did the ONE great rookie mistake and wrongly connected my 2x2S LiPos. Well, at least nothing burned but the ESC (LRP SPX8 which is not particularly great anyway) was of course internally fried. After soldering everything back on the steering works, but there simply is no engine function available.
So now I will get me something more serious (Tekin RX8 Gen 2 + T8 4038 2250kV) to get it going again. Over the winter I will do some more tuning (proper steering servo, some more aluminium, complete disassemble, more lipos, more potent charger etc) and next year I plan to join a local rc club to start proper rc car racing (ok, not proper, rather on a hobby level). Hopefully my son will like it as well...
I am sure this forum will be helpful in many ways.

We're here, aren't we?
It's fun watching the rookies move from this forum on to other forums, and watch them gain knowledge along the way, and if they stick with it.
Becoming contributors and questioners, because we all should learn something everyday, otherwise, why even get involved.JMO,OC.

This thread is for welcoming new friends, lets keep it that way. There are plenty of other threads where constructive criticism can be offered.
Slaphappy, who posted some time ago, has already found the appropriate threads to get better answers to his questions, and appears to have read the rules even. Well done and a belated welcome.

Ohai,
My name is Kevin, i am 25y old and live in Belgium.
I only recently started to get involved with RC's. I buy them mainly just to have some fun with them on parking lots and it has been a while since i picked up a RC. Now with my brother getting into this world and even joined a small local club he dragged me back in. And also because he needs me to asemble them and fix them when problems show up
1 or 2 weeks aggo we bought a Tamiya 1:10 electric on-road car 4WD TT-01 type E.
We have put it together and ran into our first problem (bad steering servo) so that is how i got to know this forums and joined. And to learn more about RC's aswell ofcourse.
If you want to have a look at the RC, then you can go and take a look on my user page.
Cya all later.

I'm a young 73 years used to fly control line , race slot cars , drag race , race motocross and cross country motorcycles among other things. Enjoying my two of my grandsons now and bought them the Ruckus and added some Traxxas turnbuckles up front when the steering rods kept popping off reoiled the shocks and have VXL axles ready to install. Being on a limited budget until I get my wife to see how much fun this is I ordered a Surge 6538 Truggy the reason as I read the description , a lot of aluminum it looked like it had possibilities as I love to tinker. I know it is of HBX lineage , I was wondering if there is a cross reference to other parts that would work. These forums are a blessing as tech has gotten way ahead of me. Any old guys out there? John

hey guys!
so ive recently moved to lubbock texas and in the midst of all my boxes i came across two that i havent seen in a very long time. one of them had my mini-z ma-010 and the other box had a tamiya tt-01. ive just started looking around trying to see if i could possibly find a hobby shop nearby or maybe even a track (that'd be nice). both these cars have been collecting dust for at least the last 6-7 years now and i've pretty much forgotten everything there is to know about them haha. im thinking i might get rid of one of them and possibly rekindle the hobby with the other. im thinking i might try to restore my tamiya tt-01 since its still pretty new - but its been so long since i built it im not sure if i would even know what im doing!

Hello,
I've been lurking on RC Tech for about a year and really haven't posted much. However, myself and a partner recently opened an off-road indoor track in Columbus, OH and I'd like to become more active on the boards. I thought this would be a good place to introduce myself!

Been reading for a week or two and decided to sign up today!
Names Aaron and I'm 23 from Melbourne Australia!
Started of with a hyper 7 nitro. Still have it going strong, the thing is unbreakable!
Then got a tamiya tt-01d and was having a bit of fun with that.
Then was old enough to get a real car so decided to modify them for a while.
But now I wanted to get back into rc!
Ended up with a HPI SPRINT 2 sport, and a sakura D3 cs!
Loving them both so far but the d3 needs some
Tinkering lol!
Learnt a lot already!

Greetings!
My name is Anthony, I am 33yrs old and live in Connecticut, USA.
-I started with a Tamiya Falcon around 1986 at age 6 that my dad built for me and gave me XMAS morning. I beat the hell out of it and still have it in its non-running shape.
-I later moved into slot cars and away from R/C through my teens.
-In 2000 I bought a Super nitro RS4 that I used for a year and then shelved. I am now in the process of making it road worthy again to enjoy with my son. He is only 15 months old but is already tired of the AA-battery powered "my 1st r/c" I gave him. He has now taken over control of my Radio Shack generic Nicad R/C car I recently resurrected that was purchased in 2009.
I have the itch again and need to get the super nitro RS4 running because he stole all my other R/C's!
