I bought a Losi 4x4 ten scte. A Apex 3.5 turn motor Mamba Max Pro esc with a 6500mah 60c lipo. This motor will not run with this setup. Has anyone used a BEC for thier big motors? I put a smaller motor in it and it works fine. Just thinking its a power issue with this big motor.

I don't see how a BEC is gonna help with the motor issue unless the car shuts down when you throttle it.

If I slowly give it throttle it will work. As soon as I get on the throttle hard it will shut down and esc will reset itself then start up again.

If the ESC is shutting down then a BEC is useless. More than likely the motor is drawing too much current from the ESC and shutting it down, or it's drawing too much current from the battery causing the voltage to drop below the lipo cut-off.

Is this a 540 sized 3.5 motor? If so perhaps not the best motor for a relatively large and heavy RC. But you can try lower gearing, smaller pinion and perhaps larger spur.

+1 a 3.5t 540 is way too hot for this.

Yeah it was late at night, and I was trying to play nice. Forget adjusting gearing, that motor simply isn't ever going to work. That's a drag race motor for a much lighter RC at best.

Get a nice 550 can motor, maybe a 4 pole. And check the SCTE thread in the off road forum for recommendations.
