New here, looks like a great forum for a newb

Hey everyone,

My name's Tom, and I've been interested in RC for a while, but haven't had time to get started. I stumbled across this forum, and I'm hoping to jump in soon.

I've got a pretty good idea of what I'd like to build for my first project, but I'm still pouring over some threads to sort out whether I need certain bits, or just want them and can make do without until I'm up and running.

Looks like there's lots of great tech discussion to be had here, so glad to be part of the community.

And go slow. There are SO many interactions to sort out that you're bound to run into some difficulties. I've had RC cars for about 1.5 months, and just a few of the issues I've had to sort:

Wheel offsets.
Getting batteries to fit.
Connecting the battery to the ESC and the ESC to the motor.
Solving glitch issue w/Spektrum receiver.
Modifying cheap chinese radio.
New tools (a surprising amount)
Charging batteries (including overcharging a NiMH and venting it; that smelled bad).
Crashing into stuff and breaking my trucks.
Laughing like a little kid as my trucks crash into stuff and break.
New servo.
Choosing tires.
Taping tires.
Gluing tires.
Not gluing my fingers.
Scraping a mixture of paper towel and CA off the countertop.
Explaining to my 4yo that the truck is sick (again).

Thanks guys! It's definitely overwhelming at first, but I can't wait to get my hands dirty. I appreciate the warm welcome!
