Default castle creations sidewinder/4600kv motor combo questions

Hi there,

i recently finished the build of an HPI CUP RACER!! This is my first electric rc car so i am asking for your help about the electronics! I want my CR to be fast enough so i don't llose interest but i also want it to be controllable! After some research i have done i found ou the Castle creations sidewinder/4600kv motor combo is quite nice and in a good price! Now my question is: is this motor very powerful for that car?it may end up ripping the spur gears and differentials?
Please help me on that!!

thanks a lot

If the motor is a cm36 2 pole 4600kv, it runs about the same as a 10.5 on the track.

i think the castle neu motors are 4 pole!! so 4600kv is like 10.5 motor which is fast enough for this car!! but will it be break-parts fast?

Is this what you have ???
http://www.castlecreations.com/products/sidewinder.html

I have all the cm36 motors, 4600kv up to the 9000kv, all of them are 2 pole.

You may have the 1406 combo like this one???

Yes !!!! Go for it
Get the CC link and turn the power down to start with.
With my TC the diff's are the only thing I work on, you have to keep them tip top or they wont last long.

Also
Start with a very small pinion, the 1406 will run cool. You have to go by your ESC temp more so then the motor temp.
Get a at least a 40c 4500mah lipo.

What is the internal gear ratio of your car ?? Maybe like 2.4ish+/-
What spur gear is on it ?? Maybe like 90ish+/-

Off the top of my head and without more info I'd have to say start with a 23t and go by temp's from there.
As you go up on your pinion the ESC will get warmer.
If your ESC is around 140f after a good hard run your good.
4 pole motors are funny, they calm right down with small pinions so it's the best place to start out.
