castle creations sidewinder/4600kv motor combo questions
#16

thanks a lot for your precious information!! i will probably go ahead and get that combo and programme it to be slower and then go for more power!!i hope no problems of stripping gears show up and make me regret for it

Your tips are very lelpful! this is my 3rd rc car but my first electric so i dont know a lot of things! i also checked out the cup racer thread for what motor i shall put on and i must say it was a bit confusing!! most guys are using 21.5t to 13.5t!! when i saw the castle combo and realised that 4600kv is actually 10.5t i thought this is going to break everything on the cup racer!!

More things to think about.
What are you going to do with your cup racer ???
If you are going to race it at a track you should look at the rules used there.
The MMpro combo will run any motor, the sidewinder ESC will not work with 21.5 or 13.5 motors.
You have more then 9 post now so you should be able to post links, post a link to your cup racer.
I have raced HPI and HB TC's for a long time in mod and stock class.
There are some hop up parts you may want to get to make it stronger but this is true with any car you get.

ok now i see!!sidewinder will only work with sensorless motors!! but i think you could find a sensorless 13.5 if you want!! i am very glad you help me!! my only worry is about the motor!! i dont want to break my spur gears and diffs!! i mean the cr can handle the power of a 4600kv??

With this gear diff front and rear you should be ok.
You'll also need this.

I think your car comes with this ball diff. ???

If you want to be sure get the gear diff's now and be done with it.
Ball diff's can be a lot of work (keeping them working right) just getting them out and back in is a lot of work with a shaft drive car.
With belt drive car you can get the diff's out and back in pretty fast, I can do one in less then 5min.
When your diff's go bad your car will be very hard to drive.
Spur gears are all the same and hold up very well.
The good thing about the cup racer is that you can get the parts to make it last longer and be stronger.

oh you are completely right!!it comes with the ball diff!! so switching to a gear diff shall make it more durable and handle the power

The cup racer would be supper fast for anyone with a 13.5.
Will it work >>> I have not and do not know anybody that has put that much power in a cup racer.
The sidewinder ESC is very big.
In that car you will never need/want to use even 1/2 the power that the Sidewinder combo your looking at has.
Yes>>> You can turn down the power using the torque control,,,,,,, that is the only reason why it should/could work for you.

so what you recomend?? shall i buy it and lower the torque or go for something else??

[QUOTE=geomylonas8;10372252]this is my 3rd rc car but my first electric/QUOTE]
Did you have off road gas car or on-road ??
What if you find you like EL on-road ??
You may want a better car.
What kind of cars or trucks do your friends have ???
How big is the track you'll be driving on ??
If you get the MMpro combo (and if it fits ???? it's taller having a fan on top) you can use a 17.5 in your cup racer if the 4600 is to much.
If you get a better car (later on) you can use the MMpro and 1406 in it.
I just looked and you can get smaller sensorless motor that that might work with the Sidewinder if you go with that.

So you have options....lol :-)

my other cars are:
-HPI firestorm 10t
-Team Magic G4S
you have a point on the on road cars! the 4600kv motor will fit in an other car in the future! it wont be wasted at all! mamba max pro is a good esc for sure but i had in mind to stay at 150 euro price tops! i find the mamba max pro combo for 210 euro!
