Default Tamiya TT-01E question

Hia all...

Ive gota tamiya TT-01, abit basic I know.

Firstly I replaced the stock motor with a 15T motor and it went pretty well so I decided to uprate the gearing to a 25t pinion and 55t spur gear set from the tamiya hop-up range and its running so much slower. Umm thought it would be better???

Only other things ive done is the bearings and the alloy main shaft. So much quieter.

Suggestions please. From a newbie

What were the stock gears? 25/55 might be too high and you may need to go with a smaller pinion.

Hi, that's an FDR of 5.72. For 15T probably FDR of 7 would be a good starting point.

22 pinion / 61 spur

Oh I thought the higher the pinion number the better??

The stock spur was 61t now is 55t.

Do I need to upgrade the esc??

Higher is not better if your motor cant keep up. As a general rule with gear changes, only go up or down 1-2 teeth at a time.

55/19 will not mesh. 61/19 might be undergeared. Try 61/22.
