Default Drift verus Sprint

I am completely knew to the hobby and I want to buy my son rc car this x-mas.
I have noticed that drift car seems to less expensive than sprint car.

My question is, if I buy a drift car, can I simply change wheels/tires and make it sprint car. Can a drift car go straight like a sprint car?

I have been considering these couple of option, please tell me what every think for 8 year old beginner.

Ideally I want to start off with something cheap in range of $75 to $120. I would appreciate any recommendations.

I have noticed that Trend Times have decently cheap ($75) RTR drift. What do you think?

Thanks,

Rohn

Its easier to make a grip car slide then it is to make a slide car grip.
A cheap Tamiya tt01 would be your best bet Slap some drift tires on it and your away
