a lathe [comm lathe] is mashine that cuts you commutator so its round so the brushes have full contact thus having more current going through them making it faster

this only applys to stock and mod motors
540 motors can be cut but its not worth the trouble seen as its cheaper to get a new 540

thanks for all your help but at the end of it i ended up getting a integy auto super lathe they are really good and cut really precicly. I would suggest this one over any other manual lathe except the hudy executive lathe
thanks for your help

good choice i got rid of my hudy manual lathe and replaced it with an integy auto lathe (actually, "topcad" brand but its essentially the same lathe.)

it is very easy to set up and use. the included carbide bit is of high quality. the great thing is that it runs off my 12v power supply so no more charging 4-cell power packs

i agree with u there the auto lathes bit is extraordinary it cuts almost like a dimond bit will. no 4 cells is one thing i like about that is because u never run out of power and the lathe never gets slow or dosent cut. and on top of it all it comes with the cool black alluminum case to hold all of it.
