Default nitro overheat question

Hello all,new to site, cool site.Ok here the sitituation, car runs good,no bogging or gurgling, smooth as is picks up speed, accels to top speed.Idles perfect, nice trail of blue smoke, perfect on the pinch test, however i hit with the temp gun and it was 230+.is this a safe temp. Also read something about a spit test on the motor drop a couple drops of water and if it sizzles it to hot,is this a accurate test.Any help would be great.

No test is accurate - you need to learn how to tune form perfomace and sound.

I know some engines run around the 230 mark. If all the signs are good, I woulld leave it.

I use the water drop test when im in the field without my temp gun around, i can pretty much tell if its to hot or not. Ummm...what type of fuel are you using? Usually picking up a fuel that has a higher oil percentage is better for you engine. More lubrication and cooler temps. Just a suggestion but running 30 or 40 percent can be the problem.

230 isn't too hot. Many engines run much hotter than that.

As long as you've got the good exhaust kickin' you should be fine.
