Default Yep, Another Noobie!

OK, so we moved to a new house in a rural community and one day a neighbor is racing his electric RC cars up and down the street (not much traffic-culdesac-small town, you get the picture). My son and I are enthralled and head out to watch. We are instantly taken over by the technical skill of the neighbor and his 11 yr old son racing them at high speeds and doing tricks/jumps. He throws a wave in our direction and we walk over to talk to them.

Anyway, we end up getting to know them pretty well and after a few days, ask him what I should get to enter the hobby. He suggests the 4X4 Slash (his son has the 2WD Slash and he has the Losi Speed T). So I head to the LHS and pick one up. Awesome! My son and I have so much fun racing at the local park. My son liked it so much I got him his own Rustler (tends not to roll as much-lower center of gravity). He's loving it!

So now we head off to the park a couple times a week with the neighbors and race around the parking lot, the basketball court, and the baseball diamonds, even the fields... lots of different surfaces. There's about 6 RC cars in our group. It sparks interest from passers by, and who knows, we may have more cars attend our impromptu bashes in the future. My three high school daughters have even come out on occasion and fiddled with them. I'm glad we caught the bug!

I look forward to learning a bunch of info on how to enjoy the hobby even more. This forum seems to be a wealth of knowledge for someone who is just starting out, as well as the seasoned RC enthusiast.

Sounds like the bug bit you bad. Enjoy the fun man! There's about a million different options for you in R/C so the sky is the limit.

My son and I just got started as well. Kind of rough start with picking through different options but, we are getting it figured out. It is really fun when everything is working
