Default Air filter

I am new to R.C. Cars but I have been racing boats
for years and in boats we don't use an air filter so this is my question.

I have a Savage with the stock air filter (I have already ordered a motor saver ) and it seem as though they have put way to much oil on the filter , all it seems to do is make the engine more difficult to start by robbing it of air. This filter is dripping it is soaked so much , is this normal or is it over kill.
I know oil is a good thing but this seems a little extreme.
Whats the norm on filters

Thanks T Kish

Too much oil will actually clog the foam and not allow air to pass. Try squeezing the foam between a paper towel to remove the excess oil. When oiling/re-oiling a new filter do the same thing...use lots of oil then squeeze it with a paper towel to get rid of the excess.
