Default Battery Question

What battery would be good for racing stock class?

Racing on a budget.
Thanks

Smc 3300's, you can get them for around $50/pack, and they have more than enough punch for stock.

I would get matched GP3300 with the lowest specs. Fukuyama got some for 34$ pr. six cell pack. Personally, I have good experience with Fukuyama, but as long as you get them from a well known matcher, I tend to say they're all pretty good.

Matched packs perform better and last longer than unspecified packs.

Since you are running stock, go with the best av and lowest IR. Also since stock you can go 3300, 3000 or 2400 since you won't dump.

Here is my .02c.

I race in the stock class and I use Fusion Batteries. I run the pre-assembled club pack for $49. They come with Deans or Tamiya connector. A lot more 'punch' and run time than the cheap stick packs I was using. I am in the process of converting my speed control and battery pack over to deans connectors to maximize the voltage the pack provides. I think there are cheaper out there but I don't regret buying them and they work great.

Hope this helps you out.

With stock you want as much punch as you can get(punch being the individual cell voltage)....then look for the low IR numbers. Stock is all about getting the car to go as fast as possible with the motor limit you're faced with. The more voltage you have, the more speed and torque you will have. Look for something in the 1.18-9 range.

Don't forget to check the discharge rate. Some matchers discharge at 20 amps which tend to show high voltage numbers. 30 amp discharge and 1.175 or above are perfect. I've seen cells with 1.23 but with 20 amp discharge lables which can be misleading. Go with cells discharged at 30 amps.

I just bought some GP 3300s from SPC to use in stock truck, off-road racing. They are in the 1.160 volt range. All I can say is wow, great punch and run time.

Promatch has outstanding batteries with an extraordinary lifespan. If you are racing stock, think about hard wiring to eliminate voltage drops across connectors.
