Newbie wanting help with Nascar r/c???
 

Hey gang I can use some help..... I am new to r/c but am a huge Nascar fan and want to do a replica nextel cup car; preferably a Chevy Monte Carlo. I had some questions below to help me get started.

1.) Are there Chevy bodies available?? If so, where to look??

2.) what size r/c should I focus on??

3.) Links to help me know what I need??

HPI Racing makes a Chevy Monte Carlo body:

The body's width is 200mm meaning it fits 1/10 scale nitro(gas) powered R/C's. HPI Racing also makes those black stock car rims, which are 26mm and fit nitro cars.

I know that losi sells the dodge intrepid and ford tarus, but i am not sure if they make the monte carlo, i think they do tho...they are 190mm(electric), or if you race oval, protoform sells the monte carlo

Thanks for shedding light on my earlier questions, just had two follw-ups:

1.) What brand or manufacture chassis would you recommend?? Or how can you tell what size will fit a 1/10 scale body??

2.) Is there a place with a check list of what you need to set-up a car like I want?? Or can I just get a kit and add a 1/10th scale body to it???

Brand wise it depends on what chassis type you want...sedan, oval???

Race Tech(isnt that one)...there are others too

For the sedans, the losi's fit ...and for oval cars you need to buy what are called superspeedway bodies...go to www.pro-lineracing.com and look at the oval ones. Or like posted before, if you have a nitro sedan, the HPI monte carlo works

and what do you mean by a check list of how to set up your car...do you mean the correct stuff to buy, or to actually set the car itself up??

Thanks for the help..... What I meant by a list, Is what you would need to build the car as far as components. I am real sorry that I am new to r/c cars, but I really want to put together a Nascar replica. I was think that if I chose a body and build to it. I did have two more things:

1.) What is the difference between standard and oval chassis??

2.) How do you know what type or style frame will fit to a 1/10 scale body??

Well oval chassis have most of their weight on the left side of the chassis to help it turn left better.

Sedans are made to have the weight spread out evenly across the chassis so it transitions better through left and right turns.

The Losi Bodies fit the electric sedans, and the bodies by protoform sit the oval chassis.

To set up a car, you need a motor, batteries( 4 cell of oval, 6 cell for sedans), a body(sometimes), Tires(sometimes), radio, servo, reciever, ESC, tire glue, charger, and power supply(sometimes. Also you need tools, and could use lubes, motor spray, a car stand, fans...etc

it would be mad to go rc nascar raceing are there any tracks
