Getting Creative With a Can of Bed Liner!
2 Attachment(s)
Hi Everyone.
Brand new to this level of RC. We started out with a Slash 1/16 VXL. After breaking it in and skinning it up real good we decided to paint it and put a different set of tires on it. The paint is just rubberized bed liner. It really stiffens up the body. The stickers were just laying around the house. Check it out! Attachment 663248 Attachment 663256 |

I messed and messed with the flash, but these are the best shots. If you click on it the detail comes out more. |
i like it! its different. but i dont think itll catch on with the others cuz it weights down the body.
|
Is that on the inside of the body? I like the idea of stiffing up the body.
|
I painted it on the outside because I like the textured look. I also sprayed some on the inside where the body pins push through because the lexan seems to break apart there.

Cool thing probably ways a ton. Had a friend who tried that and it doubled the vehicle weight. LOL

Thanks, the cool thing is when it gets real beat up again I just paint it.
The wheels are made by Traxxas; Response Pro 2.2 tires and wheels, part # 7175. I like em and they do a lot better on dirt then the stock ones.

I hate to say this actually looks kinda good. :) I have one of these I'm rebuilding to give to my sons. It's got a beat up body that I was going to chuck, but maybe I'll repurpose it. What wheels are those? I thought about going to revo wheels and tires because the oems make it ride kinda flighty.

There's a guy on Ebay selling bodies coated with Rhinoliner....asking over a hundred to start. He's emphasizing durability and says they are heavy!

My can of bed liner cost $4.95.

cool idea
I know you've mentioned it 100 times, but is this the "rubber" type or the polyurethane type? As in- when it dries is it glossy smooth and very hard or is it rubbery and squishy?
Sometimes they're labeled one way and come out another. I'm pretty sure the truck bed liner's come out rock-hard while the rubberized undercoating sprays come out too soft and chunky. An epoxy-based paint would be the absolute best. We used to use them to paint swimming pools. You could probably even use plain old jb weld applied very thin. To save on weight you could put the coating on only the highspots/fenders/lips etc. Great idea! You've really got me thinking! |
that would really stregthen and bullittproof the body.
|
I just spend $20 on another body. I enjoy painting them.
PS: I think you need to change your monitor settings, the first pics are better than the lightened up one. |
Looks neat.
