Exclamation Datsun 240z Cup Racer | Need some help with it!

Hey everyone,

I recently felt like getting a R/C. So I went with a HPI Datsun 240z Cup Racer. I added some accessories like brake calipers and Volk TE37 rims with small tires....haha.

Here's a list of which parts I have:
- HPI RF-1 Receiver
- HPI TF-1 Radio System
- HPI X30RE Motor
- HPI EN-1 ESC
- HPI SF-5 Servo for steering

I can't get the car to move in either forward or reverse. The motor does work because once or twice it did turn over but died. The steering functions are working properly. So what do you think is the problem?

I'm not looking for the best parts out there, just trying to have some fun at local car meets.

Also, I have a Turnigy 2200 mah 2 cell lipo. Charged with an Accucell 6.

Thanks!

Are these all new parts?
Have you tested with a different motor, to narrow down the problem?

Just checking the obvious, but did you calibrate the esc to the radio?

Yes, these are all new parts. I don't have another motor to test it. The current motor does work because a few times when it works, it spins fine. I think it's either the receiver or ESC.

No, I didn't do that How do I do that?

But the steering works fine, it's just the forward and reverse movement that doesn't work.

Also, do I even have the right parts for this setup?

You have to 'teach' the esc what the radios setting are for full throttle, full brake and neutral are - its called calibration or setting the esc up. Until you do this, you can't have any idea what is wrong if anything. Right now, the esc doesn't know what the radio is telling it, so it just doesn't do anything. Its the throttle/brake that needs calibration,m strg should work if the wiring its plugged in correctly.

Your esc should have come with instructions on how to do this calibration or setup. All escs do not do it the same way, so you need the instructions that came with your esc.

I'll check if I have the manual. Thanks for the tip!

Here's a picture of the setup.

okay, I checked the manual and there's no info on calibration. It says it's automatic. I assume it calibrates on it's own some how.

I have all the same equipment (Radio, receiver and ESC) as a HPI Sprint E10. I checked that manual.

So, maybe I need a new ESC?

Hey, The motor is working fine. I connected a 9v battery to it and it works.

I lost my volt meter so I couldnt check the ESC.

Could you recommend a good ESC for a X30re motor. I think it's a 540 50 turn or something. It only has 2 wires and not three like others do.
