Is the diff still together or is it in pieces?

If it's still together, is the diff screw secured by a plastic lug in the opposite outdrive? If so you could carefully dremel out the plasic lug, then use pliers on that side to get the screw out.

it's already in pieces but i really hate to mess up the plastic lug (another long story over spare parts :sneaky: LOL). perhaps i can use drilling bit and sorta drill/push the leftover screw out

Use a dremel with a cut-off wheel... Make a screwdriver type slot in screw. Then just use a flat head screwdriver and unscrew it!!!:D
