Default Radio question

Ok, I feel stupid having to ask this question but I cant find the answer anywhere.. I just got a Airtronics MX-3FG and in the package it comes with an additional 4 pack battery holder? What is this for? I tried to look at other setups and havent noticed any battery packs inside the car?? I know there is a spot on the reciever for battery input but like i said I havent used it in other cars and i dont see it in any others?? whats it for?

thanks

Nitro setup would need the holder (and 4 AAs), electric setups don't use it.
