ESC/Motor combos
Does any one know the diff. between 13t and 6.5t ?
I have a 1/16 e revo that I'm practicing with while I build my new zx5 fs
I want the ESC to be able to handle a slower motor while I learn to drive and then upgrade to a faster motor when I can handle the power.

A 6.5T is much faster than a 13T, assuming everything else is the same.
For your ZX5 I would recommend any of the popular 10.5 systems.
Castle Creations and Tekin have popular systems that nearly everyone loves. The Tekin is alot more expensive, but Castle does not make a 10.5 Motor. You would have to buy the ESC then another companies motor. I prefer the Castle because it performs the same and has all of the same functions for less money.
Other brands like LRP, Novak, Speed Passion, and others work well too, but dont seem to be in the spotlight like the others. They cost as much but dont seem to offer the same amount of adjustments. They are however very easy to use and you will see them in the winners circles at some pretty major events, so they are definitely race worthy.
My system of choice would be this
Mamba Max Pro ESC
Tekin 10.5 Motor
2s Lipo
Then once you get your skills polished and the buggy tuned perfectly I would drop in a 6.5T motor and watch it fly!

The 13T should be somewhere around 3000kv and the 6.5 over 6000, meaning at 7.4v the 13t will have a max RPM around 22,000 while the 6.5 will get over 45,000. (those are ballpark figures). Also I think the .5 numbers are usually for sensored. The numbers are a little deceiving though, since you will get more torque from the 13t allowing you to use a larger pinion, so the differences in speed aren't based solely on RPM.

Thanks. sensered or unsensered? Does it matter at this stage?
