I'm just wondering what are some of the symptoms of a bad differential on your nitro RC. When do you know it's time to take your car apart and check them? thanks for any info.

It's hard to tell with a nitro since it's loud. But when you hit the gas hard on a high traction surface it will make a strange sound. Like a loud duck quaking.

SOme of this depends on whats going bad inside the diff.

I know mine have usually started with a clicking noise, particularly noticeable when you let off the gas. As it got worse, it grew to a grinding noise which was when I pulled it - was the spyder gears - one had failed.

Other probs I've had - striped ring gear - teeth literally torn off the ring gear - would see funny accel, jerky almost and eventually get the grinding noise.

Anything looks wrong - pulling to one side on accel, jerky accel, strange noises (clicking or grinding) its time to pull and see whats going on.

"checking the diffs" is part of the routine maintenance on any nitro.
if you let them go until it sounds bad, then you have to replace the entire works.
