Default Re-using rims

I was wondering if anyone re-uses their rims after the tires have become to worn to use anymore. If so, I also wanted to know if there is an easy way to remove the tires from the rims.

Use acetone and some one told once to boil them [haven't tryed it yet]

This takes time but works. Take a 5g bucket, put a brick or somthing in the bottom to set the wheel on. Pour acetone in the bucket so it comes up 1/2 way up the brick. Put wheel/tire in there and seal for a day. Check it after then and see how it's going. May take a little longer but this works, does not warp the wheel and leaves a clean bead on the wheel.

I just pull the tyre back as much as I can and carefully cut it away from the rim with a razor blade.

I have done this a few times now and have managed to re-use both rims and tyres.

If you can do this they're not glued very well at all.

i haven't bought new rims in over a year of racing!

I cut the old tires off with scissors.. leaving just a band around the rim on each side. Take the foam insert off... wash the rims.. then soak them for a couple of days in a sealed 1gal paint can in acetone. After a couple of days, all i have to do is peel off the bands and wash the rims again. I can usually get 5 or more sets of tires off a rim before it starts looking a bit to ugly or gets warped/damaged from running.

This reminds me I need to soak a few sets tonight!

Take a cookie sheet put some foil on it, pre heat oven to 350, make sure wife is gone, 12 minutes for tenth scale, 16 min for 1/8, wear gloves but tires will pull straight off of rims with all the glue and you are left with good wheels.

Glued good enough, got a set of masher 2ks and gladiators here that I have done it to, had quite a few runs on the mashers and have only needed to re-glue one small section on one wheel, gladiators have only had a few runs but are still fine.

I admit, I could put more glue on them, but I don't think I need to.

If I was racing then I would consider gluing them more just for the extra security, but I haven't really had a problem with them bashing.

The Oven Method works for me, and is probably the fastest way to get your wheels back, but it does make a stink..
