Using a XXL novaK receiver with 3PK
hi guys,!
I wanted to know if I switch my futaba receiver with a XXL micro receiver in my gas car, will I still be able to take advantage of the built in fail safe that is embeded on my 3pk transmitter? or does that fearure only works with a matched set of electrinics meaning the stock reveiver (which is pretty large)
thanks !

I believe the fail safe is in the receiver. You could switch receivers and add a fail safe externally.

Test it if you have it put it on a box and turn on the TX then RX and then w/ the engine off pull the trigger on hold it then turn off the Transmitter and if the servo goes back to the failsafe position then it still works

i agree with phatkat the failsafe function is in the HRS receiver
the novak xxL is an FM receiver so youll have to use a plug in failsafe, usually for the throttle only. only HRS and PCM receivers have built in failsafes for the throttle, steering, and 3rd channel positions, as well as a low battery failsafe setting.
dont forget to switch the 3PK mode to PPM when you use an FM receiver. i scratched my head more than once when my FM receiver wont work with my transmitter, only to find out that it is in HRS (or PCM) mode

If you add the novak reciver you loose the option of the fail safe. Also you lose the option of pcm. the novak cost about 60 buck and the futaba reciver is 89. Just go with the futaba it will work out better for ya.

For the Micro you really don't need a micro recever unless you race and want to reduce weight. Check out Tower Hobbies if you want a futaba reciver check through it and if they don't have it it probably doesn't exist.
