Default Cigarette Lighter charging

I have a 5 amp DC charger I use to charge my Lipo batteries. I am going to a track with no place to plug in my DC power supply and am thinking about building a cigarette lighter adapter and plugging it into the back of my SUV instead of opening up the hood and using the car's battery. Is there a problem doing that? Why do I see everyone else going direct to the car battery?

Probably because the chargers come with large alligator clips to attach it to the battery directly. On occasion I've used an accessory plug (cigarette lighter) adapter to banana plug for charging.

Should be fine - think that circuit in teh car has a 10amp fuse on it which will let you charge at 5amp and will protect you in case something goes wrong.

I don't see a big problem as well (depending on what your charging).
Generally though, You want the shortest amount of wire going to and from your power source. Like an extension cord the longer it is the less your gonna have at the end.
