Simply put, yes. You might want a lipo low voltage cut-off though

Depends what your running it in. Bigger the better. I ran a Orion 3600 lipo in a slash and it really sucked the power of it. put a 5000 lipo in there and got lots of play time.

It is very important not to run lipos all the way down, they won't charge back up. Most new controllers have a shut off feature to prevent running it down. Add ons such as Novaks smart stop can be used in such cases.

Lipo batts are made from individual lipo cells. A 2S or 7.4v lipo is made with 2 separate cells. The minimum voltage for a lipo cell is 3volts. If you discharge a cell below the minimum voltage it can become damaged, the overdischarged cell can puff (swell). Now the cell is potentially dangerous to either charge or try to run and you've ruined the battery.

Novak smart stop is an external low voltage cutoff that interrupts the voltage when the voltage falls below a preset amount, like 6volts for a 2S lipo. I'm using one in an older 3906 Emaxx to protect the lipos from being overdischarged.
