Default Which motor

Im running a VXL esc with a novak 4.5R, right now its really fun, the jumping and everything, but i was thinkin of lowering the speed for more bashing type and so on. like i still want to go fast but i want the low end torque and good run times. Any suggestions?

If you have a radio that can allow it, I turn down full throdle epa to like 60 percent and it goes slower. As far as motor is as fast as you want to go, a 10.5 is close to a 19 turn. Or you can run 5 cell in stead of 6 cell.

Yeah....i dont. I dont feel like spending that much for one when the one i have (traxxas) workd great for what i do. We dont have a track here so we usually go out to the woods and make a small one. And the local BMX track is gated in. But yeah i like the speed and all but i want some more low end power/torque. Whatever you want to call it. You see what i mean though? Thanks very much and it sound like a good idea and if i could do that i would lower it down to 60% and then put like a Li-po in it for that power i want. Maybe ill jsut buy a new radio instead of motor, well thanks!

have you tried changing the gearing. in stead of the gearing being so tall(more speed) lower it(more tourge). put a smaller spur gear on it. or a bigger pinion gear.

what size is on there now? 12T? i would say to save you money i see someone suggested lower amp battery me personally i wouldnt go that way because you would be paying more money and it is just easier to change the gear ratio. what truck do you have? i dont think you mentioned that? whatever pinion you have go at least 2 teeth smaller i would go any lower could take the chance of over heateing something. im not to sure about the BL set up if it will over heat but i know on the old brushed motors it would.

I have the RC10T4 with VXL-3s ESC Novak 4.5R BL motor with 20T pinion and 87T spur. Well my motor is barely even getting hot so im not worring to much about over heating. so...?

Gearing down will lower temps, so no problem there. I wouldn't suggest going below about 15 teeth on the pinion, you start to sacrifice proper tooth engagment. As far as how much you gear down it depends on how much you want to slow it down. A 15t pinion will roughly reduce your top speed on smooth surfaces by 25%. A little less reduction on less than smooth due to less motor loading with lower gearing. In any event with a 4.5 you will still be plenty fast. Perhaps pick up a 92 or so spur for a little more reduction and to assure you will be able to get proper gear engagement.

Yeah im running a 16t pinion and 87 spur and its pretty nice but i took it out to th track out in silverdale washington. I was using streat tires that had rooster tails that were huge fun. But i could barely even get to top speed on the straight aways so i have a 12t so ill try it out for fun. I think i have a bigger spur layin around here. No local track here Thanks though
