The most commin mistake made by rookie's is trying to go faster than they can drive. Untill you can get around the track with out wrecking you wont be winning any races. Rember it just takes time and LOTS of practice.
Good luck

i agree, start slow, get a feel for everything, and crank up the speed. maybe set your throttle EP to 75% to start, and move it up 5% every time you get through a race without crashing. then you go nice and fast and you can still drive well!

I wouldn't do any mods until it needs it. If you break some thing step it up from there.
And don't be to eager to win. Enjoy racing 1st and winning will come in time.

You will find a need for speed if your like most of us.

So go fast and try not to crash! Its more fun.

ooh revenge of the monster , i remember running that motor way back in the day of brushed motors!!

you can get a brushless 8.5 system for under $180 with esc !!! http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXRST1&P=ML

its plenty fast for offroad

The trinity revenge of the monster motors are good stock motors. Keep running that setup to get the hang of it for a while and then upgrade to brushless.

Keep the motor clean, here is a guide on how the motor is made up http://www.rccartips.com/rc-electric...ning-guide.htm

The commutator and brushes are the most important parts to keep clean. Make note of how the spacers are on the armature, which spring is on which post and always put the brushes back in the endbell how they came out.

If you keep the motor clean it will prolong the life of it, but eventually you will need to get the commutator re-cut.

Great link, lots of good info there. Here is what I just bought, it is a peak commutator cleaning stick, it will clean both the comm and the brushes.
