Default throttle/brakes question... newb ;P

ok, I just purchased a used RTR3 HPI RS4

it has the standard .15 engine

ive got it running a few times, i dont really seem to have any more problems at full throttle although the idle isnt consistant. it will sometimes idle faster, sometimes slower, and occasionally die on me.

also, whenever the car is rolling and i reverse to hit the brakes the engine stalls out. is there a way to stop this?

thanks in advance guys!

Check your throttle linkage and adjust the collars so that when you hit the brakes the carb doesnt close any firther than when at idle. This could be causing your inconsistent idle. The vibrations could be opening and closing your carb as well as slight glitches from the throttle servo.

If thats not it then your engine may need proper tuning, assuming that your engine is still in good condition.

i figured it out, it was a problem with the idle screw, the idle wasnt set correctly so it idles like its supposed to now and it no longer stalls when i hit the brakes

finally got the car running and then the pull start breaks

so i will be replacing that this weekend

just like any other second hand car you may buy this one needs alot of TLC...

you should replace it with rotostart, it's more easy to use and more convenient.. good luck

alot easier: get the one way bearing, and put it in a socket adapter for a drill (should be about 12mm i think) and just spin the drill on the shaft to start it. thats what i do, and no need to carry a starter box AND a drill.
