Default newbie tuning

I just bought a traxxas revo 3.3 and im having trouble tuning it. iill get it set so a perfect idol then work with the main carburator screw, when i throttle up it will either a: take off at a good clip then die from anywhere to 10 to 50 feet, then i cant restart it for a while, or b: hesitate a bit than die, but i can start it right up. any input would be great thanks.

maybe try to reset the high speed to factory settings and try tuning from there.

also if you dont have a temp gauge its a good investment for 20$ or so.
real fast temp check!

or try putting a drop of water/spit on the engine head,
if it sizzles immediately thats too hot. it should take a
few seconds. thats kind of a bad way to do it tho.
i'm fairly new to the hobby but this may help.
keep up the attempts!

Try richening up the bottom end (Low Speed Needle), how much smoke is coming out of the exhaust when you take off, it should be very visible.

If bottom end is too lean, it will take off and die coz it's starving for fuel.

You have "run in" the engine, right?

its broken in properly, it just took a lot of playing with the screws back and forth to get it perfect. it runs great now, i just keep breaking things, tires, servos etc.... I got a lot to learn, my friend also got a revo and your guys' info helped a lot thanks.
