If your looking to race then look around your local tracks, sniff some nitro fumes, watch some mod's racing and then decide. Both the cars you listed are great so it really comes down to your personal preference.

Is this going to be your first car? If so, I would go with a lesser car because both cars will require some fine tuning in order to work right.

If you're going nitro, why don't you think about getting those NTC3 RTR before you jump into MTX3 unless you got $$$$ to burn. The same will apply if you decided to get TB Evo 3.

The way I'm reading your post is that you want a car that you can enjoy for a long period of time (and fast). If so, I would go with electric because you are dealing with less hassle other than charging the battery and keeping your transmitter's batts fresh. Match the car with an electronic speed control, a stock 540 can and those 3300mah nickel metal batteries, you'll be playing all...day...long.

That's my .02

which ever you choose, choose a proven car TC3, gas or electric very good cars,XXX-s very good car for electric, shaft drive other than tc3 (is shaft drive) cars are getting very popular so pick your posion and have alot of fun but most of all go to diffrent races and ask QUESTIONS to help you decide.....
