After 20 years quite a few things have changed...
Hello everyone,
I have been out of the R/C world for 20 years. I raced every single weekend when I was 10-14. I am now 34. My Tamyia Fox and Kyosho Raider are not the competitive stock class racers they once where, lol.
I just purchased an RC10 B4 RTR to get my feet wet with and was having difficulty finding some answers that I am looking for.
1) What are the competitive motors for 2WD Stock Buggy class now-a-days?
2) What are the first upgrades I should make to my B4 RTR?
Also any additional info on RC10 B4's would be helpful.
Any and all help will be greatly appriciated!!

I have some links to radio equipment if you want?
I would go with the 5.5 and buy motors to suit your need for speed from there.
GO FAST AND TRY NOT TO CRASH!!

As above really, im not here to name names of whats best, but start with a stock motor, get used to the new car and get the most from it in its handling, then when you feel you can race for 5 minutes with little or no crashing go for a faster motor, and better cells if funds allow.
19t is a good stepping stone from 27t, But I would start with the 27t stock motor first

cobalt is the latest, newest stocker from trinity. you may want to try p2k2, green machine 3, or the monster hp as well. should be cheaper as they are yesterday's stock motors. still plenty capable. great bashers or learners.
stock class, both on and off road is dying because of the higher capacity and voltage cells, cost, lack of speed, etc. 19 turn is today's stock class, if you ask me. its typically titled 'sportsmans class,' where the cost is basically the same as the stock class or cheaper, just a hair faster.
once you get back to being used to how an rc car feels, i would strap in a modified, practice, practice, practice.
either way, you are going to burn up comms and brushes, so i would recommend starting with rebuildable motors, extra brushes, a good 60 watt soldering iron and a good comm cutter. they will last you a long time.
i think b4 rtr comes with a 19turn motor...

If there isnt a limit to your budget and your thinking of long term stay then i too would go with the above, expensive upgrades but is cost effective in the long run

Competitve stock motors. Trinity makes good stock motors like the CO 27. Other like Birdman motors are also good as well. I would recommend the Factory Team B4 for racing. It has all the necessary upgrades for racing.
I would recommend to add weight to the rear of the car as well. I run 1/4 oz weight on either side of the chassis, and a full oz of weight under the rear shock tower. What cells are you planning on running? Tires are a big improvement to depending on your local track. Ask at your local track what the tire of choice is.
