steering dual rate
anyone can enlighten me as to wat this is and how i can use it...........
i own an MX-3 and have no idea what the D/R function is for. thanks. |
Dual rate is the total amount of travel both left and right. On a big sweeping track, you might turn it down to 80% so that you don't over steer the car. On a tight track, you would need more travel so you would set it higher.

thanks for your reply claydoh........
then how is that different from EPA, or end point adjustments..... which is also a function on my TX??? cheers......... |
EPA is the limit you set for each direction of travel by the servo. On my car, the servo can turn 82% to the left before it hits the steering block stop. If I left it at 100% it'll wear on the gears and parts trying to turn farther than it can. The dual rate of 100% would mean that you are turning the full value of the EPA. And don't worry if the Left is 82% and the right is 77% or something. Few cars are symmetrical.

enlightened!
hmmmm....... i see now......
thanks so much for your help! |
Old thread dug up!
On my TRF416 I m finding that the car is way too glitchy, a small movement on the wheel will cause the car to jump all over the place. Should I be using the steering dual rate function to limit this? To my understanding the steering dual rate will also reduce my turning circle? What I want to achieve is the same amount of steering, but just at a slower speed. My radio is the Airtronics MX-3FHSS. Thanks! |
Replying to a reply to an old thread ...
You want to use the EXPO function which changes the rate at which input movements around the center translate into arm throw. |
Heh, thanks mthird. I'll give it a go when I get home.
Cheers. |
Agree with mthird. A little negative expo (-25%) is very helpful to take the 'jumpiness' out of minor steering corrections.

So does this mean if I have my DR set to 90% I am not getting full steering? another wards will my buggy not turn as tight with DR set to lower then 100%
I thought it just numbed the sensitivity of the the steering? |
