Default Motor Pinion?

I am building up my first car and have a stock motor to put on it but it didn't come with a piono or what I might call a drive gear. Is there a certain one that I should use? what do I use to determine this??

i would start off with roughly a 16-20 tooth pinion......the pinion is the little gear that goes on the motor and the spur gear or main drive gear is the 1 that the pinion turns
