I see these names: trophy trucks, stadium trucks and short course trucks. How are these defined narrowly or generally and do rc trucks follow the definitions?

These are all different types. Stadium trucks came out first. They are primarily 2 wheel drive, though there are some 4WD. They have exposed wheels (not under the body).
SCT came out next. They are longer than stadium trucks and the wheels are under the body. Those manufacturers that make both, typically share many parts and maybe only the chassis and body being different.
Trophy trucks are somewhat newer. I've also seen them called desert racers. They are like a SCT, except they have a solid rear axle and rear suspension to go with it. They are typically 4WD but not always. They are also typically more realistic with spares tires mounted to the rear of the body, driver figures and other scale accessories.

Thank you, I really appreciate it. I'm so new to rc and racing I easily get confused!
