so I'm just starting out in this racing adventure and looking for advice. I'm running stock 17.5 and currently running an Orion motor and not very pleased with it, gets very hot even gears low. So I wanna get a new motor and I'm looking for some advice from some of you experienced guys. I was looking at the tekin spec r and the reedy s plus but open to your guys suggestions. Please help!

If you're going to a track just ask the locals who run 17.5 and the same car for advice. They should be able to quickly give gearing numbers because gearing is very track dependent and the battery can have a big effect as well. I wouldn't worry too much about speed but work on quality driving for now. A guy who is a second slower per lap but doesn't crash will always finish ahead of some "fast" guy who is upside down and getting marshalled every other lap. Once you are driving pretty much crash free and on the gas you can start gearing up and messing with things like timing for more speed.

What vehicle are you running? I race a 17.5 in my 2wd SCT in both stock and mod class and have no problem keeping up or overheating. I'd definitely try different gearing and make sure your mesh is correct.
