Default Antenna on a Traxxas Tec 4

I,m wondering on a Traxxas Tec 4 RC if you can shorten the antenna so it will be inside the car or maybe just barley have it above
the top of the car and it still work. Out of the box it sticks up about 4-6" the top and I was wanting to shorten it if that will work. I know
in the manual it says not to but sometimes other things will work. I know on my Slash it is just about 3" tall and inside the truck from the factory
and it works and is the same Ghz.
Thanks

is it the first gen 4tec with a crystal radio or the new 4tec with a 2.4ghz radio? If it's the 2.0 you can take the tube off the antenna and gently heat it up and bend it and then put it back on the antenna and you should be good to go

If it's the newer 2.4ghz system, it gets tricky. I shortened the and antenna on my Rustler only because it was damaged and wouldn't work, and was the easiest fix.
Theses antennas are a coaxial wire and the important measurement the amount of shielding removed at the end of the antenna. I forgot the length but Google it and you should find the dimension needed.

Yes, with the newer 2,0 version it’s no problem. I’ve always kept antennas under the body. Never had any range issues with Traxxas vehicles.

Ok thanks. I will it and see how it does.It is a newer version because I just bought it last week. The tube on it slides right off the cable
so I think I will just roll the wire up inside the car and shorten the blue tube.
