Default New to RC

Hey everyone, Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. My name is Pat and I'm from Maryland. I'm going to purchase a new RC truggy in the next couple of days and have started my research. Theres a lot of good information on this forum and can't wait to buy my kit and start putting it together. I'm looking at TLR, Tekno, HB Racing and Xray 1/8 scale nitro truggy's. I will use it around my parents property and would like to get into racing. So if anyone has any thoughts on those feel free to post a reply. Thanks again.

If you want to race with what you are going to purchase, I would highly recommend taking a trip to your local track (or seeing if your local track has a message forum or other social media site). Find out what are popular classes so you don't buy something to race that no one races. Most tracks typically will race anything if they have usually 3-4 drivers.

Thanks for the feedback. I went to one of the local tracks and talked to the owner. He said a lot of people have switched to Tekno and that nitro was dying and that I would be better off with 10 scale for racing. I still think I want a 8 scale nitro buggy and if I need to down the line buy another car if needed. Do you have any preference between the companies I listed? Or are they all pretty good and just depends on driving style? Thanks again

Thanks for the response Mahjik. Ive been to a few of the local shops and one of the owners told me a lot of guys switched to Tekno and to stick to 1/10 scale if I want to race. I will probably by a 1/8 nitro truggy first and pick something up later if I get into racing. I will probably end up with the Tekno or TLR. I have also been checking out used stuff in the classifieds. Thanks again
