Hello,
I am interested in getting bigger wheels for my ECX torment. Someone told me that the biggest they could go was 2.8" wheels, but then I discovered that you can get a 12mm to 17mm adapter to then use 1/8 scale wheels. Is this a dumb idea? I really dont know.

Here is the plan:

If I got this 12mm to 17mm adapter that also provides some extention:

Could I then fit these wheels and have enough clearence to not need to cut the body?

Possible, yeah. Good idea, probably not. The stock axles won't like it. You can "upgrade" the axles to the Traxxas VXL shafts, they only need a little modding to fit properly.

BobWillySmithJr, your stock Torment tires are, more than likely, bigger/wider than what you are looking at on eBay. Short course tires are about the same size as 1/8 scale buggy tires. In many cases, SC tires are taller and wider than 1/8 scale buggy tires. Me, I'd get some Pro-Line SC Badlands for the Torment and forget the 17mm adaptors. If you are wanting those tires/wheels that are on eBay just for the price, I totally get the whole frugal/low budget thing.
