Entry level F1 for black carpet?

I think the VBC FX-18 is simply the best bang for your buck IMO. As others have stated, the quality is just as good as X-Ray, Associated and Roche but what it really comes down to is local support. The VBC is no slouch either as it proved to be a very fast car in the Canadian Nationals. As Quinny45 mentioned, it was the TQ car and I think there were approximately 40 or so F1 entries. See what the others are running at your local track. Going used is not a bad idea if you can get a good deal. Again, it's all in the local track support for setup and such as well as local hobby shop support for parts.Good luck in your search!
Anyway, CRC or Xray is the only two options IMO (I think the AE is far overpriced)

Adam your biased lol.... xray does make quality but I dare you to find one part on my car (fenix) that doesn't equal the same on the xray. As for parts availability that is much better with xray but to be honest what parts are really needed. I have had 1 axle bearing fail but I'm fairly sure that was damaged in a mistake I made on the sweeper. Besides your running a fenix diff in your xray lol.

Any thoughts on the Serpent F110 SF3 Formula 1 car? Comes with an aluminum chassis out of the box

No, no other brand has the quality (fit and finish) of the Xray, even the lexan they use is superior (I don't know how, but my painter noted how nice the Xray lexan was in comparison to the other bodies he paints) the Xray is hands down the finest F1 car by a wide margin. The AE isn't even close. I like the CRC from a value/performance standpoint, but to say any other manufacturer makes a car with the quality of the Xray is just incorrect.

While X-Ray does make some nice stuff, I don't agree that their fit and finish is better than other manufacturers. I have built plenty of different makes of cars and they all have their flaws, including X-Ray. And if I'm going to pay for something that is equal to everything else, I would prefer to do it for less. Just my 2 cents.
