Questions?? Futaba FX10

Hey there, Newbie here

I found my old Futaba FX10 RC car that my father built for me when I was a kid and now I want to pass it on to my son.
am super green on battery knowledge on RC cars. I was wondering if I can use a different type of battery
other than the 7.2 Volt 1200 MAH one that it had originally. I remember it took hours of charging and only
lasted wheat seemed to be 10-15 minutes back then. Are there any new options that this car could handle?
If this was your car, what batteries would you put in it?

Thanks again!
Brian

Your easiest plug and play upgrade would be a nimh pack such as this one: https://www.amainhobbies.com/dynamite-6-cell-7.2v-nimh-speed-pack-flat-battery-pack-3300mah-dyn1070/p167726

However, you might still need a new charger depending on the specifics of yours.

The FX10 is old school and is now gaining popularity as a collector buggy.

You might consider keeping it as a shelf queen, and just looking back at how much fun you had with it and how your father built it for you. It really wouldn't be durable for your son and parts can be hard to come by.

It would probably be best to find him an inexpensive brushless truck and let him have a blast with it. You can still pass on the FX10, but the poor old buggy deserves the retirement life.
