Scrubb- oh man... if I could only tell you the gitters I get even thinking of getting off of work and going over there to practice. The wait for the battery to charge, searching Sean's stuff for my radio, asking incessant questions about tire tread, shock placement, shock oil weight, is this battery charged, what do these peak numbers mean... etc.... then finally getting to walk over to the stand and put the car down....
I always start out so slow... I have no idea why... I guess I think I'm testing the dirt to see if it changed from the day before but I finally punch it over the one TINY double that kicks my butt every time and then walk down to marshall myself.... LOL
Its a blast... and I can't wait to do it again and I never want to stop...
its the packing up all the crap we bring that takes the fun out of it.. LOL

I remember back when I started in R/C, I got nervous on the driver stand too. Sometimes I still get nervous. I get the nervous shakes if i'm leading a race and i know faster drivers are catching me. But its exciting when you do well though, huh?
I spent alot of time at a local track one summer, I went everyday after work, practiced 7 packs each day. That really helped my driving alot. You quickly get tired of walking off the drivers stand to marshall your own car, so you just drive the hard sections slower. You start to pick the easier way through and your laptimes start improving. find a setup your comfortable with, something close to the box stock setup, and just drive the car alot. thats the fun part anyway. Spend alot of time learning and trying different things with tires. Different compounds, foam inserts, differnt treads, thats the most important in off-road. And practice with a cheap, mild modified motor like a 15 or 17 turn. That will help you learn throttle control better than a stock motor will.

Lucky for me, SoCalRC is indoors. . .
So - this means that Sean can show you how to tear down your truck and put it back together? Right?

well, Sean can tear it down and show me how it goes back together again... not saying the knowledge will stick or even that he'll let me touch the tools...but sure, its worth an effort. LOL

Its been raining for 2 solid weeks now.

There's an indoor track in Tucson that we have not gone down to yet... sort of a pain in the butt drive (90 minutes that is not an easy 90 minutes). We are thinking of going down Friday night, find a hotel and then get there early on Saturday for practice. I understand they have a large novice class and I think it would be good to compete on an unknown track. We'll see.... basically, we are kinda lazy on the weekends... LOL
