Roar's new website

That would be cool if they gave the 6000+ members a deal on them. PT's that is.
Sure would create a push for tracks to update as well I think.
What if promotional items weren't sold but rather a certain "donation" was given for them? Kinda like what churches do when they have car washes? You are never "paying" $5 for the car wash but you are "Donating" $5 for that car wash.
It can be done like this:
For a donation of $10-$20 you get:
A hat or a T-Shirt (1 of your choice)
For a donation of $20 to $35 you get:
A hat and a T-shirt
For a donation of $35 to $50 you get:
A sweat shirt or a wind breaker......
You get the picture, is something like this feasable? There are lots of uses this type of money could go towards. Maybe like use it for ads in magazines for the Nationals and would ease 1 more burden from the track to have to pay for... Or just advertising of ROAR in the magazines of some sort, Help pay for the website and improvements, Be able to pay for banners that every ROAR affiliated track can have, I could go on and on....
Sure seems like their may be a loophole somewhere to be able to do this.

funny you didn't mention this a year ago... LOL
ok, we'll work on that project again. Hank Hagquist was very onboard a year ago with the idea... I'll contact him again.

I just thought of it actually. I told you I would "think about it", sometimes ideas just take a while is all, sheesh.
BTW: We might want to talk to Calle or Helen about maybe getting the people that do their shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and hats and stuff. I think they were fairly reasonable in prices.

Maybe we can give a shirt to every "New" ROAR member as well? Or maybe for the first year, give everyone that signs up new or re-newal a shirt with the option to upgrade the shirt with a "small donation" to a sweatshirt or something?
I think that this might even spark the interest of some manufacturers and for a "donation" they can get their logo on the shirts. (Of course this offer should only be offered to MFG's that are Industry affilated with ROAR)
I don't know, just some ideas that coinside with the whole t-shirt idea.
We can talk about it more later.

The promotions team (actually, Raffaelli's idea) attempted to start something like that but it never took off because we couldn't find a way around the whole tax issue. Income is income.....

This is an idea we kicked around at least 18 months ago. Again, it was the single person in ROAR with the wrong idea about tax laws that prevents ROAR from moving to the sale if merchandise, group purchases. releif to the racer.
Also, other than the need to educate ourselves about tax laws and not for profit organizations, doing this kind of thing, group purchases I mean, would be in direct conflict with one or ROAR's mission...to avoid endorsing a company.
Big circle.
But from the sounds of it maybe that education is now being considered!!!! That is GREAT news.

We need a member with some tax law knowledge to consult.
The promotional items don't have to be sold for profit, they can be sold for cost and shipping. I think this would still fall in the not for profit catagory.
Its nice to see all the positive ideas on this thread whether there all used or not.

If Fred is our Accountant/Administrator, he should have some amount of knowledge of it.
If I can get the exact type of non-profit (not-for-profit) organization that we are, I do have some sources I can ask (I work at a college where this stuff is taught. . .)
I think most of my suggestions have been covered already so I won't repeat them! (Wow - Boomer not talking more. . .armageddon is next week I think! )

Can we just get something done here ? I know how long it takes to develop a web site, and this is way to long. This is one of the items that can bring an immidiate return to the members. It is a big part of ROAR's new face, and it just gets dragged out. If we are paying someone to develop the site, then fire them. Taking too long. If we are getting the development donated, change that and hire a professional to do it. That should be part of the budget. The current site is an embarrasment to the membership, and just shows how this ROAR administration does not get things done in a timely manner.

I was told the new website would be up mid to late January. It is online at a secret URL to preview.
