If you're new to flying and doing some learning how to maneuver and stuff the Hobby King "Bixler" or the "Sky Surfer" glider is the best. You can survey around at Rcgroups forum for more info. They are slow, docile and nice to fly even in heavy wind. Bixler and Sky surfer both are actually the same model with different labels. Here is how my Sky Surfer looked like. *Tip: The bigger they are they easier they fly.

Here is my opinion about the plane at my blog: http://www.supermotoxl.com/fpvuav-mo...-surfer-1400mm

Late entry here. The Bixler3 is a nice easy plane to fly and very easy to land. It makes a really nice photo plane also. I would look into a small plane for you first plane. Something like the micro Sport Cub S. It is inexpensive and packed with a lot of electronic assistance. In the easiest mode it flies like a rubber band plane. All you do is guide it. In the advanced mode you can pull off loops and slow rolls and inverted.

I second this post. Something that is a top wing plane is much more stable and friendly for someone new to flying. There are some free flight simulators out there that you could try flying on
