Default Looking to buy my first quadcopter????

Hey guys, been on Tech for awhile but in the electric offroad section. Family duties has me not playing around with toy cars anymore so I was thinking of getting a drone. Looking for something user friendly, HD camera and FPV with a smartphone or tablet. Was looking at the Bebop parrot/controller but not really sure on what else is out there. Looking for around $600 maybe $800 to spend. Any info or direction for this newbie is greatly appreciated. Thanks......

I have a Blade 350QX and really dont like it! But if I had to do the quadcopter stuff over today I would get a DJI phantom series.

What don't you like about it? Thanks for the reply, I'll look into these as well. I kinda liked the parrot with the built in camera, also one less thing I have to buy.

The 350QX is cheaply made flimsy POS really and short flight times. I would stay away from Parrot stuff IMO. Few guys had them and well they cash more then fly. The DJI Phantom 3 is a awesome starter quad for video taking and 15-20 min flight times!!

Have you flown quads before? I have to ask cause it might be good idea to start with a indoor mini quad like the hubsan or anything similar, then work your way up.

No I haven't. Are they harder than a regular heli? Don't really feel like wasting money up front, just to purchase later on. Thanks!

quadcopters are easy to fly you dont need to train on something! Practically fly themselves..

I'd go for a phantom 3. It's very user friendly and easy to fly. The phantom 2 vision + is good if you want to go on a cheaper route.

Thanks guys for all your help. I picked up a slightly used Phantom 2 with a GoPro Hero 3+, hard case and some extras for a decent price.....

Update, my quad came in Friday..... So I charged it up and flew it a couple of times that night (Rained the rest of the weekend). Took some video as well. It was easy to fly ( first time flying anything) and was really fun. Taking videos was a nice feature as well. I could probably see this getting boring after awhile but it's cool for now. If anyone else is interested in one I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger, but maybe go for a built in camera so you can have FPV capabilities without purchasing anything extra. The only downfall would be having the drone with a designated camera, where I at least can use the gopro for other things. Thanks again guys.....

so hows your quad going?
are they easy to fly?

I'm about to purchase one... nearly got the missus onboard

I'm looking at the QAV250

Its a racer.. so no recording.. just fly by view
Still deciding if i go straight into the goggles or try with the screen first

Will be my first.. and can get them new for about $400 aussie..
